A New York film through and through, PLEASE GIVE starts when a family purchases an apartment from an elderly woman. With a multi-layered story and a large ensemble cast, director Holofcener (Friends With Money) extracts a muted, Rohmer-like morality tale that falls mostly on the comedy side of the spectrum. Catherine Keener, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, and Rebecca Hall all give wonderful performances.
