A SINGLE MAN is the story of a British professor in Los Angeles in 1962, who is struggling to find meaning in his life after the death of his long-time male partner.  This is a vivid portrait of life, with exact period detail, that features a masterful, layered performance by Colin Firth. Despite its sad story, the film is vibrant and engaging and beautifully done.  Also with Julianne Moore.
