CYRUS is an independent and personal character study, which could be mistaken for a wacky mainstream comedy. The Duplass Brothers started in the no-budget “mumblecore” movement, but this latest foray into interpersonal awkwardness comes with name stars and a moderate production budget. It’s about a budding relationship between two fortysomethings and the resistance of a co-dependent twentyish son who is unwilling to share his mother’s attentions. Starring John C Reilly, Marisa Tomei, and Jonah Hill.
USA – 1 hr 32 min – Jay and Mark Duplass
