Harvey Weinstein has published a full page ad attacking conservative NY Post critic Kyle Smith’s negative review of Philomena.  Here’s the ad, which includes a letter from the real life Philomena Lee. And here’s Smith’s response to that ad.

Is this a true controversy or a manufactured one to drum up ticket sales?  Hmmm.  Harvey wouldn’t do that, would he?  Either way it’s interesting.

We think the film is wonderful and well worth seeing (as the 92% favorable reviews attest), but Smith’s argument that the film is anti-Catholic and anti-Republican is an interesting read.
