Midnight In Paris

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS
Woody Allen’s latest is a delightful comedy about a young couple visiting Paris. Owen Wilson carries the film with a highly amusing performance as a Hollywood writer who longs for the “golden age” of Paris in the twenties when giants like Hemmingway, Fitzgerald, Picasso and Stein held forth.  But his fiance and her family are not the least bit interested in that Paris or in his desire to be a serious writer.  Then the clock strikes midnight and some very odd and magical things start to happen.  MIDNIGHT IN PARIS is funny and clever and charming – a perfect summer movie.   Starring Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates, and Michael Sheen.

  2. I cannot possibly describe this movie without resorting to cliches like “an hour and a half of my life which I’ll never get back,” or “I thought it couldn’t get any worse, but, I’ll admit, Woody Allen knows how to push the envelope further and further.”

The plot is predictable and formulaic, the acting uninspired and drab. Visually, it is stunning. I recommend watching it on mute.

  3. Sorry Max
I loved it sound and all.
It was a wonderful fantasy about wishes, dreams, and imagination.
What could I be if I followed my dreams rather than shoulds…
Perfect escape for a hot summer day or evening.
Is it possible Mr. Allen is finally content?…only one memorable death fear statement.

  4. I think that the only people who did not like this movie are just sad. Sad people think that the only good movies out there are the ones that make everyone else feel sad. Sorry Max but if you have to put this movie on mute, maybe its because you have no dreams or hopes in your life.

Sure, its not a movie that will make you think about the deeper things in life, but its a great summer film that warms your heart and brings the beauty of the 1920′s to life.

I feel sorry for people who constantly feel they have to think so damn hard.

  5. Paris is the most amazing place on the planet, especially after hours. I haven’t even seen the movie and I love it already having spent many long nights wandering those same streets….

  6. I love Paris! Miss it so much! And the 20′s as well with Swing music, the fashion, and the arts! Although, some of Woody Allen’s movies are hard to follow this one is simple and funny (like always), good for relaxing and just enjoying. I agree with everyone, the scenery of Paris was great, the story not so much, but the idea about going back to the area when one would like to live is tempting. And to see Owen Williams in a role usually played by the author and doing great job was uplifting. My teenage daughter, her friends, and I enjoyed this movie a lot!
